Whats Hot? Movies.

The BAFTA Awards

It's awards season and coming up on Sunday the 13th of February 2011 we welcome the BAFTAs to our television screens. It's funny because I was actually asked how I felt about that BAFTAs today in my French conversation lesson and the question took me completely off guard, I mean I'd never really thought about it. What I can say is it's a very glamorous and expensive event. Tensions run high as some of the world's most famous actors and actresses compete for those kind-of-creepy-looking awards. My friend said that it was all a waste of time and money and was altogether a very vain event but I disagree. There are some films that are truly inspirational, for example, 127 hours and the King's Speech, they are true stories, surely it's not a waste of time to congratulate the actor's on their exquisite performances? In my opinion at the BAFTAs those not-so-good-movies-but-boy-is-that-actor-hot movies are separated from the truly brilliant. So some people tune in just to see what all the celebs are wearing but for those of you who are actually interested in which movies were actually the best here are some of the nominees:

Anyone seeing a recurring theme? Hmm... Seems like 127 hours, Black Swan, Incepetion and The King's Speech are the ones to look out for.

Let's not forget about TV!

Ok so I haven't actually researched which shows are up for nomination yet but I'm disappointed every year when Home and Away doesn't win an award. I genuinely think it's the best soap out there. It's a lot more child-friendly and less disturbing than British soaps such as Eastenders and Hollyoaks (have to say at some point or another I have been drawn in to watching those too) and I really want them to win an award here in the UK!
