Bake Your Own Boyfriend Cookie Cutter Review

What is it?
The Bake Your Own Boyfriend Cookie Cutter is exactly what it says it is. It's a simple, blue, plastic, man-shaped cookie cutter.

What's good about it
This cookie cutter is quite thick and sturdy so you don't have to worry about it breaking after a few uses. I decided to make a chocolate chip boyfriend which meant that I had a bit of difficulty pushing the cutter into the dough because the chips were very hard, but with a bit of effort, the cutter went straight through the chocolate chips, no hard done to the cutter and the shape of my future boyfriend remained intact. This cutter is quite a good size, probably about the length of a 15cm ruler, which means that you don't have midget boyfriends and this is actually something special. The design is such that when the cookie comes out of the oven it still looks like a 'man' and it doesn't just merge into a sort of blob, thankfully.

What's not so good about it
Pretty much the only downside to this cookie cutter is that the legs of your future boyfriend are just a little too close together which means that your cookie dough will probably get stuck in there until you  life the whole cutter up and poke it out. This isn't really a big issue as it doesn't affect the shape of your cookie or anything, it's just a mild hindrance.

Putting it to use
So who wants to see some pictures of my embarrassing baking skills?

On the back of the cookie cutter packaging, there is what looks to be a pretty good recipe which is handy. Unfortunately I didn't have the correct ingredients for this so I hunted online for a slightly different recipe and ended up using this one here.

So there you have it - a poor demonstrating of my culinary skills.

In the end the cookies came out quite tasty but a little too brown. I put them in the oven for the correct amount of time so either I'm retarded or this recipe is a little off, but if you are going to follow the same recipe I did, I suggest reducing the time in the oven to around 10 minutes. This recipe is quick and easy so all in all, I'd recommend it.

Final thoughts...
At only £3.60, I'd say that this cookie cutter is a bargain. It's a fun idea that would make a perfect present or if you're an avid baker then this is something you will no doubt want to add to your collection. Who cares about gingerbread men, when you can have a boyfriend cookie? It's easy to use, easy to wash (not dish washable) and you end up wish a unique and tasty cookie, sorry, boyfriend!

If having a boyfriend cookie isn't enough for you and you'd like a cookie husband, then Niion have got that covered too!
