Teen Wolf Season 2.
WARNING: There may be spoilers for those who haven't yet watched season 1. If you've never seen this series before, you might want to start with my review of season 1 HERE.
Recap: In season 1, Scott must figure out ways to keep his loved ones safe while dealing with himself as a werewolf. The characters around him must also deal with problems of their own, all of them making discoveries along the way. Scott learns that to possibly cure himself, he must kill the werewolf who bit him, a mysterious Alpha who's been murdering people since the death of Derek's sister. It is revealed that Allison's family has a long history as werewolf hunters. The season ends with the Alpha's death, Derek becoming the new Alpha, Allison's aunt Kate's death after it is revealed that Kate was responsible for the deaths of Derek's family, and Scott's identity as a werewolf being exposed to Allison and her family. Initially Scott was the only teen wolf around and his best friend Styles was the only person who knew about his mysterious abilities; however, that is no longer the case, in fact, it seems like everybody knows something. In season 1, it was revealed that Scott's girlfriend, Allison, is actually descended from a long line of werewolf hunters, which, of course, makes their relationship a little tricky. At the beginning of season 2, Allison's dad threatens to kill Scott, only letting him live on the condition that he never sees Allison again. Lydia is still in hospital after being attacked by the alpha but mysteriously escapes into the night (with no clothes). There are a number of unexplained deaths that are happening more and more frequently and it appears that there may be other wolves in town, but it remains to be seen as to whether or not Scott will join Derek's pack. There also seems to be a hint that there may be more than just werewolves out and about, but we will have to wait and see!
I have a feeling that season 2 is going to be even better than season 1. We're only two episodes in, but there has already been so much drama and excitement. With more characters in the loop, there's a lot more scope for the plot and other characters to develop. The Not to mention the fact that all the actors have suddenly gotten hotter. *Cue sexy photo of Jackson* Things are really coming to a head as more of Allison's werewolf hunting family move to town and they mean business. Serious slicing-people-in-half business. Allison, as a character, has also developed a lot and she's not afraid to do what she thinks is right and it looks like things could get difficult for her soon as she will no doubt have to pick a side - her family or her boyfriend.
Wow. |
I'm glad to see that this show is still funny as ever and it's great that this show can incorporate humour in amongst the action and romance. Styles is, of course, the main character who brings the comic aspect and I'm quite impressed with Dylan O'Brien's acting skills. It is a shame that he is not in television shows or films but he has been cast as the main character in 'The First Time', a romantic comedy to be released later this year. All the actors have grown since season 1 when not all the acting was one hundred percent convincing. You can see there has been a remarkable improvement since this series debut and this show has really stepped it up a notch for season 2.
There's a new alpha in town, and he's meaner than ever. |
The new opening sequence is more mysterious, sexier and more intense and that's what I'm hoping that this new season will bring. Also, the soundtrack for the new series is awesome. I don't recognise many of the songs but after every single one I find myself googling the lyrics trying to find out who it's by. In addition to being great songs, they are all perfect for whichever scene is Check out the soundtrack here.
The one thing that I dislike about teen wolf, is the wolves themselves. They look ridiculous and act ridiculous. There was one scene which I thought Scott looked like a giant, lollopping, human rabbit that was frogleaping at great speed down the road. I do not understand why more of an effort isn't made to make these wolves look even vaguely realistic. This was the thing I didn't like about season 1 either and I'm sorry to say that things haven't changed. This, for me, is what really lets the show down.
All in all, season 2 has made an excellent start and I can't wait to watch the rest of this series for even more excitement!
Watch Teen Wolf every Monday at 9ET/6PT on MTV.
