Title: Addicted To You
Author: Krista Ritchie, Becca Ritchie
Genre: New Adult
Publication Date: 01.07.13
Summary: No one would suspect shy Lily Calloway’s biggest secret. While everyone is dancing at college bars, Lily stays in the bathroom. To get laid. Her compulsion leads her to one-night stands, steamy hookups and events she shamefully regrets. The only person who knows her secret happens to have one of his own.

Loren Hale’s best friend is his bottle of bourbon. Lily comes at a close second. For three years, they’ve pretended to be in a real relationship, hiding their addictions from their families. They’ve mastered the art of concealing flasks and random guys that filter in and out of their apartment.

But when they go on a family boat trip, surrounded by open seas and limited male bodies in sight, Lily’s confronted with a big fear. Only one guy onboard can fill her addiction, and she’s sworn off going there with Loren Hale ever again.

Now the only person who can truly help her can barely help himself.

**This is a New Adult book recommended for readers 18 and up**

{ Review }

Addicted to You is about Loren Hale and Lily Calloway, two best friends who have secret addictions that they've been hiding from their prestigious families for years. Loren is an alcoholic and Lily is addicted to sex. Predictably, these two end up in a relationship but things get awfully complicated with both Loren and Lily trying to satisfy their cravings and each other at the same time.

I was immediately interested in Addicted to You because I've never read or seen anything about an addiction to sex, which, I assume, is probably something that is becoming more prevalent in today's day and age. This book isn't for the faint-hearted as it's pretty raw with two serious addictions colliding and mixing. At first I thought an addiction to sex was a little silly and it would've been quite easy for it to come across that way in a book such as this, but the two authors did a brilliant job of showing the harsh reality of such an addiction. This book doesn't hold back on the grim details and gives what I would think is a fairly realistic glimpse into the minds of addicts.

I'm not entirely sure whether you could call the characters 'likeable' because as a non-addict reading this book I was screaming 'just stop!' in my head over and over again. This book is quite limited to the two main characters though as the book progresses more and more characters come in, including family members and strangers offering their help. I probably liked these secondary characters more than the main characters themselves, simply because most of them actually had their heads screwed on the right way. These extra characters become essential to the story as the plot unravels though the presence of some of them was a little random. Some characters plopped themselves into the lives of Loren and Lily and refused to leave them alone which seemed a little unrealistic, though perhaps not in the face of addicts.

This story is written in a brilliant way, such that I couldn't predict what was going to come next despite the fact that it sounds like a very predictable book. I believe this is the first in a trilogy so there will be more to the story which surprised me as I thought this would've made quite a good stand-alone book if the ending had been slightly tweaked. Speaking of the ending, I thought that this was a let down. It leaves room for more of a story but it didn't leave me with any sort of pulling factor to draw me to the second book. As the book progressed it did become a little repetitive, however, I think I'll still be picking up book two just so I can read more about these raw addictions.

All in all, Addicted to You was a fascinating read about two addictions, one very common addiction, and one much less spoken about. This book may sound a bit like it's just about two rich teenagers who can't keep their vices under control but it's actually so much more than that and the way that this story is written and weaved together makes this a great read. This is a new adult book so I would recommend it to those who are over 18. I've said previously that all the books in this new genre are basically the same but I think that this one has more of a focus on the addictions which make it even fresher.
