Waiting on Wednesday: Uninvited by Sophie Jordan

Waiting on Wednesday #25

"Waiting On" Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

Title: Uninvited (Uninvited #1)
Author: Sophie Jordan
Publication Date: 28th January 2014
Publisher: HarperTeen
Goodreads Summary: The Scarlet Letter meets Minority Report in bestselling author Sophie Jordan's chilling new novel about a teenage girl who is ostracized when her genetic test proves she's destined to become a murderer.

When Davy Hamilton's tests come back positive for Homicidal Tendency Syndrome (HTS)-aka the kill gene-she loses everything. Her boyfriend ditches her, her parents are scared of her, and she can forget about her bright future at Juilliard. Davy doesn't feel any different, but genes don't lie. One day she will kill someone.

Only Sean, a fellow HTS carrier, can relate to her new life. Davy wants to trust him; maybe he's not as dangerous as he seems. Or maybe Davy is just as deadly.

The first in a two-book series, Uninvited tackles intriguing questions about free will, identity, and human nature. Steeped in New York Times bestselling author Sophie Jordan's trademark mix of gripping action and breathless romance, this suspenseful tale is perfect for fans of James Patterson, Michelle Hodkin, and Lisa McMann.

{ Thoughts }

I feel like I may have heard of a book with a very similar plot line (anyone know what I'm talking about?) but I haven't read it and can't remember it so this book would be the first of its kind for me. This sort of YA lit, with children born to be something that society dictates, is becoming more and more popular but it hasn't been around for long enough for me to be bored of it yet so this should be an exciting read. With romance and action this seems like it's going to be a good one!

  2. I enjoyed it, it's kind of the same formula, and I think I have heard of a few to do with their DNA and stuff (can't actually remember the names, though), but I find that interesting anyway. It's a bit dark and gritty, and it raises questions, but it's good. Hope you enjoy it! :)
